We think that the sculpture should reflect the technological advancements of this century. Therefore, we will include computers or robots in our image of the twenty first century man.
One good idea we came up with and think we should use is a robot in the shape of the vitruvian man. This symbolizes the merging of man and technology. The robot would have a brain coming out of its head though,to signify that it is still human.

Sculpture Ideas (cont.)
Okk... so, off of what Agnes said I think its a good idea about the chaos because the world just gets more chaotic as the time goes on. Maybe our sculpture should be this mass of parts which shows how complex the human society has become? We could make a giant robot, symbolizing the future, and stick a whole bunch of stuff to it representing lots of different things about the future human society.
I came up with a few ideas that we could do or go by when creating our sculpture...
I came up with a few ideas that we could do or go by when creating our sculpture...
- super colorful, the more color the more complex and chaotic it'll look
- lets make it huge, the bigger it is the more room we have to put as much as possible on it
- the robot could have an open head, showing its brain, so metaphorically it would show how the human can always grow in knowledge because of his/her open mind
Sculpture Ideas
My sculpture ideas differ from Kara's and Agnes'. Agnes talked about how she thinks that the 21st cenutury is defined by chaos. I beg to differ. I think in the 21st century things are easier than ever. We now have machines that do just about everything for us but breathe. Just try to think of one activity you do that doesn't rely on technology. We have become dependent on electronics and computers. I think this cenutury is defined by computers. Scientists estimate by 2029, a computer will have the same wiring and complex abilites as the human brain. Pretty soon we will not only rely on computers but we will be computers.
That is why I think our 21st century human should be a computer or some sort of robotic human. My idea is to base our sculpture or project off of Da Vinci's Vitruvian Man which studies the human form. Only instead we construct a similar looking work with a robotic man or a computerized person.
And my preference for the location would be the tree area in the front driveway. I feel like if it were in the drainage ditch it wouldn't get seen enough and I just don't like how the brick area looks.

Okay well going off of what Kara was saying, if we want to create some sort of art form that represents the 21st century human, I agree with Kara by using an abstract sculpture. The first thing that comes to my mind when it comes to the 21st century human is chaos. We're just always trying to do something, or do multiple things at once, we don't have enough time to do all of them, yet we somehow finish those tasks. We're always trying to bet the clock, or is it the other way around as if the clock is trying to bet us?
I believe that we're always in a hurry and that life is just zooming by without us even realizing it and we simply just need to slow things down a bit. I feel like we lost the sense of relaxation and tranquility so we need to retrieve those sensations back into our lives.
Maybe we can use all of these elements about the current human and put them all together in some form of an abstract and yet engaging piece of art.

I think that we should make a statue that is very abstract and creates a vision of what we think a human will be like in the future. I was thinking that we would do something that has a figure of a human, but is torn apart and disconnected. It is just a thought though.
I also like the spot with all the trees in the very front or the brick area, just because it kind of goes along with our name. I don't think we should create anything too literal or simple because that doesn't represent the complexity that we are trying to convey as the 21st century human.
Other than that I'm not sure exactly what our image of the 21st century human is going to be so I think we all have to think about that together! Go team Bricks.
